Details

Glean is the Work AI platform that helps organizations work smarter with AI through enterprise search, an AI Assistant, scalable AI agents, enterprise SaaS connectors, flexible LLM choices, and robust APIs.

The Developer Productivity team shapes how engineers build, test, and ship software across a large, multi-language codebase powered by Bazel, GitHub Actions, and cloud remote execution. This role focuses on build systems, CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and the adoption of AI-powered coding and productivity tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a Bazel monorepo with support for multiple languages.
  • Improve build hermeticity, caching, reproducibility, and dependency management.
  • Extend Bazel with custom rules, macros, and integrations.
  • Operate and optimize pipelines on GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, and cloud runners.
  • Reduce CI latency through remote execution, caching, and parallelization.
  • Instrument pipelines with telemetry and dashboards to measure speed, reliability, and cost.
  • Build CLI utilities, IDE plugins, GitHub bots, and other tools that improve the developer experience.
  • Automate debugging of flaky tests and CI failures.
  • Simplify onboarding and local development environments.
  • Enable engineers to integrate AI-powered coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude into their daily workflows.
  • Build agentic tooling for CI failure analysis, pull request triage, and code review support.
  • Collect usage insights, build dashboards, and iterate on adoption strategies to maximize developer return on investment from AI.
  • Contribute to critical build and CI/CD systems that affect every engineer's workflow.
  • Contribute to open source projects such as Bazel, rules projects, and CI tooling, and share learnings at conferences.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering background with Java, Go, Python, or a similar language.
  • Experience with build systems; Bazel is strongly preferred, while Buck, Blaze, Gradle, or Maven are acceptable.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, Buildkite, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud runners, and distributed build and test environments.
  • Experience integrating or enabling AI developer tools is a plus.
  • Strong debugging skills and an interest in solving workflow bottlenecks.
  • Passion for multiplying the effectiveness of other engineers.

Location

  • Hybrid role requiring four days per week in the Mountain View office.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Standard base salary range: $140,000–$220,000 annually.
  • Compensation may also include variable compensation, equity, and benefits, depending on the role.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage.
  • Generous time-off policy.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Home office improvement stipend.
  • Annual education and wellness stipends.
  • Regular company events and healthy lunches daily.

Glean is committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace. As part of the interview process, candidates complete a brief AI-focused exercise or discussion about how they think about, design, and use AI. Prior Glean experience is not required.
