Details

OpenAI’s People Innovation Labs is a fast-moving engineering team embedded in the People organization. The team builds systems that help find and retain talent, empower employees, and improve productivity, culture, and innovation. Projects include greenfield products such as OpenHouse, AI-powered automations, and scalable recruiting tools.

The role is for a self-starting full-stack product engineer who enjoys building new products in an iterative, fast-moving environment. You will work with the People Team and leaders across the company to build software for HR, culture, and recruiting, while innovating on the use of large language models in these domains.

Responsibilities

Own the full product development lifecycle for new people products end to end.
Engage with internal stakeholders to understand their problems and design solutions.
Work with the research team to provide feedback and iterate on applications of their latest models.
Collaborate with engineers, HR business partners, recruiters, researchers, product managers, designers, and operations teams to create products.

Requirements

4+ years of professional engineering experience, excluding internships, in relevant roles at technology and product-driven companies.
Proficiency with JavaScript, React, and other web technologies.
Proficiency with a backend language; the team uses Python.
Some experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
Interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning; direct experience is not required.
Ability to move quickly in an environment with loosely defined tasks and competing priorities or deadlines.
Interest in building company culture and/or recruiting talented people.
Being a former founder or early startup engineer who built a product from scratch is a plus.
