Details
The Applied Foundations team at OpenAI works to ensure its technology remains secure against adversarial threats, including financial abuse, scaled attacks, and other forms of misuse. The Integrity pillar develops scaled systems to identify and respond to bad actors and harm on OpenAI platforms. This is a new team in London focused on architecting next-generation systems that support and scale expert work on harms involving AI technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design and build foundational systems for the detection, tracking, and enforcement of harm involving OpenAI technologies.
- Work with technical and non-technical experts on observed harms to inform system design and implementation.
- Leverage advanced AI technologies to automate and augment the detection and analysis of complex harms with minimal human intervention.
- Collaborate with policy, trust and safety operations, legal, investigations, harm-specialized engineers, and data scientists to combat abusive actors and customers.
- Stay current with techniques and tools for defending against determined and well-resourced adversaries.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience with backend and data systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in trust and safety analysis, investigations, and/or operations.
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team with technical and non-technical specialists.
- Ability to understand an existing codebase and provide suggestions that strengthen the engineering position.
- Strong desire to learn and develop missing skills, along with the ability to clearly share knowledge with others.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions.
- Experience with machine learning techniques is a plus but is not required.
