Responsibilities

Build solutions to complex technical problems with far-reaching consequences.
Learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and collaboration with mentors and subject matter experts.
Work collaboratively on multi-person coding projects.
Contribute to projects across frontend, backend, infrastructure, or other technology areas.
Participate in code reviews and help safely update production systems.
Navigate and manage work in large code bases.
Lead small projects independently and contribute to larger projects alongside peers.
Leverage AI tools to accelerate development while applying critical thinking and professional judgment to review, refine, and validate outputs.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a directly related field, obtained by summer 2027, or equivalent work experience.
New graduate candidates must have no more than 18 months of professional experience, excluding internships.
Programming experience through side projects or coursework. Stripe primarily uses Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go, though strong fundamentals and general programming knowledge are valued.
Experience from previous internships or collaborative coding projects in a university or professional setting.
Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and develop an understanding of them through independent research and guidance from mentors or subject matter experts.
Clear written communication skills and the ability to explain work to stakeholders, team members, and colleagues.
Ability to operate with high agency when navigating complex technical obstacles, including knowing when to work independently and when to ask for help.

Preferred Qualifications

Specialized knowledge in one or more areas, such as frontend, backend, infrastructure, or other technologies, balanced with broad technical skills and knowledge.
Experience with code review practices and safely updating production systems.
Familiarity with large code bases.
Experience independently leading small projects and contributing to larger projects with peers.
