Details

Airbnb's Core Data Science team builds reusable tools and models and tackles the most technically challenging, high-impact data science problems across the company. The team's mission is to ensure Airbnb leverages state-of-the-art science for maximal business and community impact. In this role you will focus on estimating long-term impact of platform and product changes by connecting short-term experimental outcomes to long-term value.

Responsibilities

  • Develop causal estimates for the long-term impact of short-term metric movements.
  • Build frameworks for estimating how the impact of product changes evolves over time.
  • Create frameworks and tooling to evaluate heterogeneous impacts of product changes.
  • Develop and apply causal inference methods, including experimental, econometric regressions, and quasi-experimental methods to measure a wide range of platform/product impacts.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Operations Research, Economics, Mathematics, Physics).
  • 6+ years (with Ph.D.) or 8+ years (with Master's) of experience working or doing research in experimentation / causal inference domains.
  • Proven ability to design analytical solutions to complex problems with real-world applications.
  • Familiarity with recent developments in causal inference and strong experience with experimentation and causal estimation.
  • Strong programming skills: R, Python, Scala, Java, C++ or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Publications or presentations in recognized Data Science journals/conferences is a plus.

Location

  • This position is US - Remote Eligible. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; some states are excluded (see: https://careers.airbnb.com/). The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $200,000—$242,000 USD.
  • The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. The actual base pay depends on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
