Reddit is a community of communities built on shared interests, passion, and trust and is home to open and authentic conversations on the internet. Every day, Reddit users submit, vote, and comment on the topics they care most about. With 100,000+ active communities and approximately 101M+ daily active unique visitors, Reddit is one of the internetβs largest sources of information.
The Data Science Team at Reddit is growing. As a Senior Data Scientist (Consumer), you will partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Business Development) to define product strategy through measurement and metrics design, experimentation and causal analyses, and deep data research. You will lead analyses that inform product and business decisions, uplevel experimentation practices, create self-serve data tools, and mentor junior data scientists.
Responsibilities
- Develop action-oriented insights to drive product strategy through observational causal analysis and experiment meta-analysis; clearly communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders up to the C-suite.
- Uplevel experimentation practices by guiding design, execution, and deep-dive analyses to maximize learnings from A/B tests.
- Create new ETLs, tables, dashboards, and other self-serve tools to enable other data scientists and cross-functional partners to find and interact with data.
- Design, evaluate, and measure team-level KPIs to enable quarterly goal setting and demonstrate team impact.
- Regularly engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and share progress at all stages to ensure alignment between Data Science and other teams on business goals and outcomes.
- Mentor more junior data scientists and business partners in data science best practices and methods to increase data literacy and improve decision making.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in quantitative or data science roles, preferably for a consumer-facing service/app.
- Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelors degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields. (If M.S. or Bachelors degree, minimum of 5+ years of industry data science experience required; if Ph.D., minimum of 3+ years required.)
- Expertise in querying relational databases (SQL) and programming languages (e.g., R / Python).
- Deep understanding of online experimentation (A/B testing), causal inference, and statistical techniques.
- Comfortable in innovative and fast-paced environments, with a bias toward action.
- Strong technical communication and data-storytelling skills with the ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Able to tackle ambiguous and undefined problems by creating an action plan, getting feedback, and iterating.
