Airbnb is seeking a Staff Payments Advanced Analytics leader to drive the strategic vision for Airbnb's global Payments operations. You will be a key data thought partner to Payments Platform, Product, and Operations teams, embedding quantitative measurement into user journeys and product processes, and influencing stakeholders to drive global process improvements and optimize the payments data landscape. You will work closely with engineers and finance partners and oversee technical details of fund processing including collection, reconciliation, and settlement systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as a data thought partner to leadership, delivering actionable insights and recommendations to enable data-informed decision-making across the Payments organization.
• Champion day-to-day analytics while architecting scalable reporting platforms and business insight frameworks (executive scorecards, business reviews, OKR planning).
• Pinpoint frictions in user journeys and optimize experiences for Guests, Hosts, and agents through rigorous problem-solving.
• Design and execute experimentation frameworks; apply advanced statistical modeling and causal inference to quantify business impact.
• Solve complex domain challenges using machine learning, AI, and experimentation; develop analytical frameworks and statistical models for causal inference and measurement.
• Build data models to size product offerings and support prioritization decisions.
• Collaborate with platform and engineering teams to maintain resilient payments infrastructure and partner on payment processing trends and operational changes.
• Monitor global fintech/regulatory landscape to identify opportunities for innovation.

Requirements / Your Expertise

• 10+ years of industry experience in business analytics; advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field (Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research) is a plus.
• Proven track record in Payments organizations with deep technical proficiency across payment domain areas (payment processing, risk, compliance, reconciliation, settlement).
• Expert skills in SQL.
• Expert proficiency in at least one data analysis programming language (Python or R).
• Experience with non-experimental causal inference methods, experimentation, and machine learning techniques, ideally in a multi-sided platform setting.
• Experience using AI tools to scale workflows and identify opportunities.
• Working knowledge of schema design, high-dimensional data modeling, and ETL frameworks (example: Airflow).
• Strong storytelling skills to translate technical results into narratives for executive stakeholders.

Typical Day

• Drive strategic Payments roadmaps and user journey optimizations using data and cross-functional collaboration.
• Produce executive-level deliverables (scorecards, business reviews) and architect scalable reporting solutions.
• Design experiments and statistical analyses to quantify impact and inform strategy.
• Collaborate with platform teams to ensure resilient payment processing and apply analytic insights to operations.

Location

• US - Remote Eligible. Must live in a U.S. state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed with your manager.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay range: $180,000—$221,000 USD. Role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
