Airbnb is seeking an expert leader to join its Payments organization as a Staff Analyst, Advanced Analytics. The role will drive strategic, data-informed decision-making across Payments Platform, Product, and Operations teams. The analyst will embed quantitative measurement into user journeys and product processes, establish objective success indicators, and partner with engineers, finance partners, and product managers on global payments operations, including collection, reconciliation, and settlement systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a data thought partner to leadership by delivering actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Lead day-to-day analytics and architect scalable reporting platforms for the payments ecosystem.
  • Identify user-journey friction and optimize experiences for Guests, Hosts, and agents.
  • Apply quantitative measurement, machine learning, AI, experimentation, statistical modeling, and causal inference to solve complex domain challenges.
  • Develop analytical frameworks and statistical models that establish causal inference and drive measurable business impact.
  • Translate experimental results and technical complexity into compelling narratives for executive stakeholders.
  • Define key metrics in unstructured spaces and provide data-backed recommendations for the eTeam-level roadmap.
  • Drive strategic Payments roadmaps and user-journey optimization through data-informed insights and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Deliver business reviews, executive scorecards, and strategic OKR planning.
  • Design scalable business insight and reporting frameworks.
  • Design and execute experimentation frameworks using advanced statistical modeling and causal inference.
  • Construct data models to size product offerings and support prioritization.
  • Collaborate with platform teams to maintain resilient payments infrastructure.
  • Analyze payment-processing trends and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to apply business changes.
  • Identify patterns and systemic opportunities across intersecting domains.
  • Monitor the global fintech landscape for emerging trends and regulatory shifts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience in business analytics.
  • A degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or Operations Research; a Master's degree or PhD is a plus.
  • Proven experience working in Payments organizations, with deep technical proficiency in payment processing, risk, and compliance.
  • Expert SQL skills.
  • Expert proficiency in at least one programming language for data analysis, such as Python or R.
  • Strong storytelling skills and the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Experience using AI tools to scale workflows and identify new opportunities.
  • Experience with non-experimental causal inference, experimentation, and machine learning techniques, ideally in a multi-sided platform setting.
  • Working knowledge of schema design and high-dimensional data modeling, including ETL frameworks such as Airflow.

Work Location

This position is US Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Employees must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation

The base pay range is $180,000–$221,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
