Details

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Premium Merchant Experiences team helps Stripe businesses succeed through high-quality, contextual, and timely premium support options. The Dublin-based team is building a greenfield product with automated, AI-driven support, improved access to technical experts, and robust internal tooling for Stripe support employees.

As an early hire on the team, you will operate like a founding engineer within Stripe. You will set the team's technical strategy, mentor and grow senior engineers, drive product delivery, and uphold high standards for reliable systems.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate production systems with an emphasis on extensibility, reliability, and usability.
Write and review code regularly, setting the pace and elevating engineering standards.
Build high-quality, end-to-end product experiences with a strong focus on user needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and navigate organizational complexity with leadership support.
Partner with Engineering Management, the Product Manager, and key company leaders to create and execute the team's long-term vision.
Unblock the team in delivering short-term and long-term roadmaps, making trade-offs that account for business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
Teach and mentor engineers to help develop the next generation of leaders at Stripe.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

10+ years of professional backend or full-stack development experience, including active code writing and review.
Experience setting and executing long-term technical strategy for a large product area.
Ability to prioritize competing requirements and stakeholder needs while iteratively shipping product features.
A proven track record of technical leadership, including meaningful contributions to the growth of other engineers.
Excellent communication skills when working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
User empathy and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving and product development.

Preferred Qualifications

Full-stack development experience, particularly with React and Ruby.
A desire to continuously learn and grow as an engineer while shipping impactful work.
