Details

Anthropic's Identity & Access Controls team builds systems that verify customer identities, grant access to advanced model capabilities for approved use cases, and prevent misuse. The role involves building identity, vetting, access management, monitoring, and enforcement infrastructure for trusted access programs.

Responsibilities

  • Build identity verification and vetting systems, including KYC/KYB workflows, for individual and business customers.
  • Design and implement access control systems that grant, scope, and revoke access to advanced capabilities based on approved use cases.
  • Build infrastructure for configuring safety systems and detection thresholds on a per-customer basis.
  • Develop monitoring systems to detect misuse of expanded access and tooling for enforcement teams.
  • Detect and remediate account takeover.
  • Integrate with third-party identity verification and data enrichment vendors.
  • Create monitoring dashboards, alerts, and internal administrative tooling.
  • Collaborate with policy, enforcement, threat intelligence, and go-to-market teams to ensure access decisions are well-informed and consistently applied.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable experience.
  • Experience building and operating backend systems in production.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Interest in the societal impacts of AI and in making powerful systems safer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of industry software engineering experience, excluding internships and co-ops.
  • Experience with identity, authentication, or authorization systems at scale.
  • Experience with KYC/KYB workflows or identity verification vendors.
  • Experience in trust and safety, integrity, fraud, or abuse detection.
  • Experience detecting and responding to account takeover or credential compromise.
  • Experience partnering with operational teams to build custom internal tooling.

Compensation

Annual salary: $320,000–$485,000 USD.

Logistics

Anthropic currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more in-office time. Anthropic explicitly states that it sponsors visas and will make every reasonable effort to obtain a visa for candidates who receive an offer, with support from an immigration lawyer. The position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience.
