Details

Anthropic's Connectivity team works to make Claude the most connected AI by providing safe, permissioned access to external systems. The team builds standards and services used by claude.ai, Claude Code, Cowork, and the API, including the MCP proxy, OAuth and token management systems, and the official Python and TypeScript SDKs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate core connectivity infrastructure behind external tool calls, including the MCP proxy and OAuth and token management systems.
  • Own reliability for infrastructure used by internal teams and external partners, including SLOs, on-call, incident response, and postmortems.
  • Build administrative controls and permission models that enable enterprise IT teams to govern agent capabilities.
  • Contribute to the MCP standard and its ecosystem, including the specification and official Python and TypeScript SDKs.
  • Scope complex, multi-month projects and drive cross-organizational alignment through ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Make architectural decisions that shape how Anthropic builds and scales its products.
  • Partner directly with research teams to productize cutting-edge capabilities.
  • Dogfood products and iterate on shipped platform solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience as a backend or platform engineer.
  • Familiarity with using AI tools as part of the software development process.
  • A product-focused approach to platform work, with a focus on robust, scalable, and easy-to-use solutions.
  • Ability to take full ownership from design through build, deployment, operations, and ongoing improvement.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound technical decisions independently.
  • Experience operating production distributed systems.
  • Understanding of reliability, observability, and incident response at scale.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build consensus across teams and time zones.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Compensation

  • Annual salary: $405,000–$485,000 USD.

Logistics

  • The team spans San Francisco and London.
  • Anthropic currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.
  • Visa sponsorship is available, although sponsorship cannot be guaranteed for every role and candidate.
