The OpenAI for Government team leverages frontier AI to help governments achieve their missions through secure, compliant AI tools and mission-aligned deployments. The team works across the U.S. national security and cyber ecosystem to support adoption through hands-on support, tailored training, and secure deployments.

Responsibilities

• Identify and deliver complex, high-impact deployments for the U.S. national security and cyber enterprise using the OpenAI Platform API and ChatGPT Enterprise.
• Forge and manage strategic partnerships with national security and cyber mission users to identify and deliver impactful AI and AGI use cases.
• Serve as the accountable lead for high-impact national security and cyber engagements tied to contractual milestones and acceptance criteria.
• Translate between technical teams and business stakeholders by communicating technical progress, risks, requirements, and dependencies to senior executives and technical practitioners.
• Work with government, defense, industry, and academic partners to identify national security AI use cases, including cyber defense, threat intelligence, security operations, incident response, and vulnerability management workflows.
• Translate complex business and technical problems into actionable, scoped delivery plans aligned with technical feasibility and national security impact.
• Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers, Solutions Architects, Research, Engineering, Go-to-Market, and security teams to guide technical direction, anticipate blockers, and align teams.
• Establish best practices for milestone tracking, internal coordination, and delivery operations at scale.
• Build consensus across teams with competing priorities, secure commitments from stakeholders, and drive complex projects to completion with limited dedicated resources.
• Lead regular progress reviews with national security and cyber stakeholders.
• Identify delivery risks early, mitigate blockers, and maintain program velocity.
• Navigate ambiguity and evolving requirements while keeping internal and external teams aligned.
• Help shape OpenAI's milestone-based delivery programs for national security and cyber customers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, national security consulting, delivery leadership, or senior program management, driving complex technical initiatives across cross-functional teams.
• Active U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance; an active Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work on-site with national security and cyber customers.
• Experience leading organizational transformation initiatives, including AI, digital, or business transformation, directly with national security departments or agencies.
• Experience leading complex national security or cyber-focused programs in enterprise SaaS, AI/ML, consulting, cybersecurity, or transformation environments.
• Proven ability to influence and shape customer decision-making at the executive or board level and drive clarity, accountability, and alignment.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes in lean, fast-moving environments by influencing without authority, making thoughtful tradeoffs, and mobilizing cross-functional teams.
• Strong track record of executing ambitious goals on complex cross-functional projects.
• Prior experience managing large-scale AI/ML or enterprise API-based deployments.
• Passion for using AI and AGI to enhance national security and strengthen cyber capabilities.
• Ability to create clarity and momentum in highly ambiguous environments and bridge frontier AI research with cyber mission impact.
• Commitment to helping national security customers use AI responsibly and effectively.
