Who We Are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Stripe’s mission is to increase the GDP of the internet.
About the Team
The Strategy & Operations (S&O) team for Infrastructure enables the continued growth and operational excellence of Stripe’s infrastructure organization. The role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, strategy, finance, data, go-to-market, and day-to-day execution.
The team addresses challenges involving system scalability, platform reliability, and efficiency. This role provides the analytical rigor and operational pragmatism needed to scale Stripe’s infrastructure in a technically resilient and fiscally sustainable way. Responsibilities include leading strategic projects, translating system performance and capacity trends into infrastructure requirements, and driving architectural and resource decisions.
The Infrastructure Strategy & Operations team focuses on three core areas:
- Setting and driving the engineering agenda: Design organizational structures and operating models that enable infrastructure to scale ahead of the business. Lead technical governance forums and synthesize system-level health metrics, including utilization, latency, and fleet reliability, into strategic insights for senior leadership.
- Strategic capacity and infrastructure planning: Develop data-driven strategies for the platform roadmap. Model future infrastructure needs against business growth forecasts and align engineering requirements with financial considerations.
- Program and process incubation: Add structure to ambiguous problems, influence large cross-functional teams, and establish programs and processes focused on infrastructure efficiency and resource optimization without compromising developer velocity.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Infrastructure leadership to define the long-term strategic vision and build annual operating plans aligned with Stripe’s company strategy.
- Monitor the financial health and cost of Infrastructure, identify relevant trends, and proactively surface areas of concern or opportunity.
- Build and own analytical models and benchmark key metrics to inform Infrastructure strategy and growth decisions.
- Track infrastructure efficiency metrics and drive initiatives that improve performance.
- Support cross-functional execution across priority projects, ensuring alignment between product, engineering, marketing, sales, and support teams.
- Design and implement operational systems and processes, such as reporting dashboards, planning forums, and decision-making workflows, to help the Infrastructure group scale efficiently.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in strategy and operations, data science, finance, product management, or similar roles at technology companies.
- Experience working in highly cross-functional settings and in roles spanning strategy, analysis, and operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Critical and first-principles thinking, including the ability to question existing ways of working and focus on the most important problems.
- Passion for analyzing data and solving problems.
- Experience in data analytics, with the demonstrated ability to navigate large datasets and/or use SQL.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with leaders across partnerships, product, engineering, and sales.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
- A strong balance of business and technical acumen.
- Ability to execute with minimal guidance in ambiguous contexts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in Infrastructure strategy, such as Compute, Storage, Networking, IT, Security, or Developer Platforms; experience in payments or high-scale fintech is also preferred.
- Ability to facilitate large-scale technical forums and planning sessions with a focus on measurable goals, infrastructure SLAs, and ROI-driven outcomes.
- Experience developing creative solutions for capacity and efficiency bottlenecks, with a track record of influencing the roadmaps of cross-functional engineering and product teams.
