Team

The Bloomberg Municipal New Issues team is responsible for the timely and accurate updates on new municipal bonds coming to market, as well as extensive client facing support. Responsibilities include developing new data pipelines, implementing data validations, reviewing processes for efficiencies, and finding opportunities to expand data sets. The New Issues team collaborates closely with internal consumers of data including News, Evaluated Pricing, and Index teams.

Role overview

Data Team Leaders are frontline managers responsible for developing and leading individuals with diverse experiences across several functions and subject matter areas. The Team Leader will manage data management, quality control, and processes that drive the New Issues product. You will manage, motivate, and develop a team of Data Professionals, set team strategy and the product roadmap, and build partnerships with Engineering, Core Product, Enterprise, and other partners.

Responsibilities

  • Attract, coach, develop, and retain a team of experts who process time-sensitive, high-quality data
  • Lead partnerships with other data and business groups (Product, Sales, News, Engineering) to develop and improve fit-for-purpose data and product functionality
  • Design and implement proactive data quality management supported by client-focused metrics and process observability
  • Develop data modeling and ETL skills within the team and collaborate with Engineering to build robust data products
  • Build processes and standards to meet or exceed client SLAs and support superior customer service
  • Develop team subject-matter and data expertise aligned to industry best practices; proactively identify gaps and opportunities for innovation
  • Collaborate with global counterparts to evolve workflows and operating procedures for consistent data quality across regions and products
  • Participate in technical discussions, provide insights on system design, and conduct code reviews as required

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant leadership experience or strong relevant individual contributor experience with domain knowledge
  • Technical experience to lead a team of Data Engineers and ensure high standards in production deliveries
  • Demonstrable experience in Data Management roles such as Data Quality, Data Modeling, and/or Data Engineering
  • Demonstrable experience with Data Analysis using tools such as Python, SQL, and/or Tableau
  • Understanding of the Fixed Income market, preferably the Municipal market
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in STEM, Economics, a quantitative social science, or related business field
  • Strategic vision and ability to implement business and people strategy
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build influential relationships with internal and external partners

Nice to have

  • Experience interpreting fixed income documentation and market themes
  • Experience in semantic technologies or understanding of their structures
  • Understanding of Data Governance and Data Management
  • Experience using a Scrum Agile process

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: 135,000 - 230,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus
