Team Leader - Municipals Data

Bloomberg's Data organization delivers data, news, and analytics through innovative technology. The Municipal New Issues team manages timely and accurate updates on new municipal bonds, provides client-facing support, develops data pipelines, implements data validations, improves processes, and identifies opportunities to expand data sets.

The Team Leader will manage and develop a team of Data Professionals responsible for data management, quality control, and data processes supporting the New Issues product. The role includes setting the team's strategy and product development roadmap, partnering with Engineering, Core Product, Enterprise, News, Evaluated Pricing, Index, Sales, and other internal groups.

Responsibilities

• Attract, coach, develop, and retain a team responsible for time-sensitive, high-quality data, data analysis, data management, and project management.
• Partner with Data, Product, Sales, News, Engineering, and core business groups to develop and improve fit-for-purpose data and product functionality.
• Lead proactive data quality management supported by client-focused metrics and process observability.
• Develop data modeling and ETL capabilities within the team.
• Collaborate with Engineering teams to develop robust data products for multiple client-facing products.
• Build processes and standards that meet or exceed client service-level agreements and support high-quality customer service.
• Develop the team's subject matter and data expertise in line with industry best practices and trends.
• Collaborate with global counterparts to evolve workflows and operating procedures and ensure consistent data quality across regions and products.
• Participate in technical discussions and provide insights on system design, code reviews, and other relevant areas.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant leadership experience or strong relevant individual contributor experience, along with relevant domain knowledge.
• Technical experience leading a team of Data Engineers and ensuring high standards in production delivery.
• Understanding of the fixed income market, preferably the municipal market.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in STEM, Economics, quantitative social science, or a related business field.
• Demonstrable experience in data management, such as data quality, data modeling, and/or data engineering.
• Demonstrable data analysis experience using tools such as Python, SQL, and/or Tableau.
• Strategic vision to align team goals with business and client service objectives and implement effective business and people strategies.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate business needs, advocate for the team, and explain business and operational strategy.
• Ability to establish credibility and build influential relationships with internal and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience interpreting fixed income documentation and understanding finance and market themes.
• Strong listening skills and the ability to understand team and client needs.
• Experience with semantic technologies or an understanding of their structures.
• Understanding of data governance and data management.
• Experience using Scrum Agile processes.
