Anthropic’s Infrastructure organization is responsible for the systems that train its models, serve its products, and support engineering teams. This includes datacenter operations, capacity planning across cloud providers and Anthropic’s own facilities, accelerator cluster management, production serving infrastructure, developer tooling, data pipelines, and networking.

The company is hiring a TPM leader to own program management across this ecosystem, from compute provisioning through production workloads. The role includes bringing up new datacenters, scaling multi-cloud compute across AWS, GCP, and Azure, managing datacenter construction, and building the software infrastructure needed to support rapid growth. The TPM Manager will report to the Head of TPM and partner closely with engineering leaders on technical strategy, roadmapping, and aligning TPM support where it is most impactful. The role involves personally driving 2–3 critical programs while building and leading the team.

Responsibilities

IC Program Leadership

• Own and drive 2–3 of the highest-priority infrastructure programs while building the team.
• Run programs involving datacenter bring-up timelines, capacity scaling plans, infrastructure migrations, cross-team reliability efforts, and other critical infrastructure initiatives.
• Build processes and playbooks through direct execution, then codify them for the team.
• Earn credibility with engineering leads through strong execution.

Team Building and Development

• Set the standard for effective TPM work in the infrastructure domain through personal output.
• Coach and develop TPMs.
• Transition programs to team members as the team grows.
• Grow the team by defining roles, writing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, and closing hires.

Planning and Prioritization

• Work with engineering leads to identify work that would benefit most from TPM support.
• Make staffing and prioritization tradeoffs during the team-building phase.
• Maintain portfolio-level visibility across programs, including status, risks, dependencies, and blockers.
• Represent the team in planning cycles and leadership reviews.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate across Infrastructure and partner teams including Research, Product, Security, Finance, and Legal.
• Drive alignment on programs spanning hardware and software, such as capacity plans supporting training schedules and efficiency initiatives spanning accelerator kernels and serving systems.
• Own executive communication regarding program status, risks, and resource needs.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in technical program management, including 7+ years directly managing TPMs; experience leading larger TPM organizations is preferred.
• Experience building a team or function from scratch and defining roles in an evolving environment.
• Experience scaling TPM teams in rapidly growing, fast-moving companies.
• Experience across physical and software infrastructure, such as datacenters, networking, hardware operations, distributed systems, cloud platforms, and developer tooling.
• Experience running large-scale compute or infrastructure programs, including capacity planning, cluster deployments, datacenter build-outs, or cloud migrations.
• Ability to communicate complex programs clearly to senior leadership while preserving important details.
• Ability to switch between individual-contributor work and people management.
• Comfort making staffing and prioritization decisions with incomplete information.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Compensation

• Annual salary: $365,000–$565,000 USD.

Logistics

• Location-based hybrid policy: Staff are expected to work from one of Anthropic’s offices at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more office time.
• Anthropic sponsors visas for eligible roles and candidates and retains an immigration lawyer to assist with visa processes.
