Details
The Codex Deployment Engineering team helps customers adopt OpenAI's coding tools throughout their software development lifecycle. The team acts as a trusted technical partner, guiding engineering teams as they integrate Codex into their projects and workflows. Customers range from digital-native companies to global enterprises.
The role involves partnering directly with engineering leaders and hands-on developers to design, validate, and scale advanced AI workflows. The engineer will use Codex to prototype and build demos, integrations, and automations that customers can adopt. The role combines technical architecture, product strategy, and customer-facing technical leadership, with collaboration across Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, Applied Engineering, and the broader Codex organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert on OpenAI Codex for a portfolio of customers.
- Embed deeply with customers to enable engineering teams and build coding workflows.
- Design and implement AI-enhanced development workflows, from rapid prototyping through scalable production rollout.
- Build demos, reference implementations, and workflow automations, using Codex as part of the development process.
- Lead large-format workshops, technical deep dives, and hands-on enablement sessions for engineering organizations.
- Contribute technical content, including examples, guides, patterns, and best practices, to the OpenAI Cookbook.
- Gather product insights from customer deployments and translate them into product proposals and model feedback.
- Influence customer strategy and decision-making regarding AI coding tools, software development lifecycles, technical roadmaps, and organizational workflows.
- Advise on solution architecture, operational readiness, model configuration, security considerations, and best-practice adoption.
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical consulting, post-sales engineering, solutions architecture, or similar customer-facing experience.
- Active power user of AI coding tools with a deeply customized developer workflow and a clear perspective on engineering productivity.
- Experience building demos, integrations, and prototypes, often using Codex to accelerate development.
- Experience delivering large, high-impact workshops or technical training to engineering teams.
- Experience contributing technical guides, patterns, or examples publicly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts and support strategic customer decisions about AI.
- Ability to work in ambiguous, rapidly evolving problem spaces and iterate toward solutions with customers.
