As an AI Tutor specializing in multilingual audio capabilities, you will help train and refine Grok for voice interactions, speech recognition, and auditory experiences across diverse languages, accents, and cultural contexts. You will curate and annotate high-quality audio data to improve global accessibility, enable natural spoken interactions, bridge language barriers, and enhance multilingual audio processing.

Responsibilities

• Use proprietary software to provide labels, annotations, recordings, and inputs for projects involving multilingual audio clips, voice recordings, speech samples, and auditory elements in various languages.
• Translate and localize text strings, including UI copy, prompts, responses, and other written content, from English into Sinhala while ensuring linguistic accuracy, natural phrasing, and cultural appropriateness.
• Support the delivery of curated audio data representing clear and natural spoken output, accurate linguistic and prosodic details such as intonation, rhythm, and accent, and professional audio standards.
• Collaborate with technical staff to develop tasks that improve AI handling of speech modulation, accent variation, noise in real-world recordings, and multilingual audio processing.
• Work with technical staff to improve annotation tools and audio workflows.

Requirements

• Native proficiency in Sinhala, with exposure to diverse accents, dialects, or regional variations.
• English proficiency at a minimum B2 level, with clear, natural vocal delivery and pronunciation suitable for audio recording.
• Strong auditory perception for identifying nuances in speech, accents, pronunciation, intonation, and audio quality across languages.
• Ability to handle multilingual audio content, evaluate speech accuracy and cultural vocal expressions, and interpret spoken content in context.
• Ability to transcribe audio accurately across accents and varying audio quality.
• Ability to translate and localize text accurately between English and Sinhala while preserving meaning, tone, and cultural nuance.
• Comfort providing high-quality voice recordings and feedback on audio samples in multiple languages.
• Strong comprehension, communication, interpersonal, analytical, detail-oriented, and organizational skills.
• Ability to make independent judgments on ambiguous or varied audio material, including noisy or accented speech.
• Commitment to developing AI with sophisticated multilingual audio capabilities.

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Exceptional attention to linguistic nuance, auditory detail, and data quality beyond standard transcription work.
• Deep understanding of high-quality and useful audio data.
• Advanced transcription and annotation practices, including handling disfluencies, accents, and prosodic features such as intonation, stress, rhythm, and emotion.
• Background in linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, or sociolinguistics; speech sciences; cognitive science; or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience analyzing accent variation, pronunciation differences, and multilingual speech patterns.
• Experience with speech or audio datasets, annotation workflows, AI training data, or training voice models.
• Understanding of how data quality affects model performance.
• Experience with translation or localization workflows for software UI, product copy, or conversational AI text.
• Professional voice experience, such as voice acting, voice recording, podcasting with a measurable audience, or similar audio production.
• Portfolio materials such as voice samples, annotated transcripts, or audio-related work are strongly preferred for advanced candidates.

Work Arrangement And Expectations

• Roles may be full-time, part-time, or contractor positions, depending on role needs and candidate fit.
• Contractor hours vary based on project scope and availability. Most projects may require at least 10 hours per week on average, but there are no fixed commitments. Contractors can set their own hours and determine the time required to complete deliverables.
• The role may be performed remotely from any location worldwide, subject to legal eligibility, time-zone compatibility, and role-specific needs.
• US-based candidates cannot be hired in Wyoming or Illinois.
• Visa sponsorship is not provided.
• Candidates working from a personal device must use a Chromebook, a Mac running macOS 11.0 or later, or Windows 10 or later.

Compensation And Benefits

• US-based candidates: $35-$45 per hour, depending on relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications.
