Details
Bloomberg is looking for a data journalist to take on a project role helping expand Bloomberg.com’s games portfolio. The role will help leverage Bloomberg’s data expertise into a new game under development, with an emphasis on ingesting, cleaning, and searching databases rather than creating visualizations.
Responsibilities
- Collect and manage dozens of databases from inside and outside Bloomberg.
- Vet data sets to understand their provenance, accuracy, and utility.
- Use data sets to generate daily programming.
- Consult on game design, UX, and UI elements during game development.
- Apply rigorous standards of accuracy, sourcing, and verification, especially with numbers.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience working as a data journalist or in a relevant career.
- A strong understanding of core Bloomberg coverage areas, such as economics, business, finance, technology, or politics.
- Curiosity and a love of numbers, statistics, and history.
- Meticulous standards for accuracy, sourcing, and verification.
- Experience working with newsrooms and a data background.
- Familiarity with games, including mobile games, news games, strategy games, board games, card games, or video games, is a plus.
Compensation
- USD 45–50 per hour.
The referenced salary range is based on the company’s good-faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education or training, and skill level.
