Finance Systems Engineer, Finance and Strategy

Build and maintain platforms supporting Financial Planning, Forecasting, and Analytics processes at Anthropic. The role combines hands-on engineering expertise in EPM platforms such as Pigment and Anaplan with data engineering capabilities across BigQuery, SQL, integrations, and production systems. You will partner with Finance and Strategy stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, maintain data integrity, support financial operations, and improve financial planning infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Systems Administration and Support

• Administer the Pigment financial planning platform, maintaining system health and performance.
• Manage Finance applications, data, user access, security, configurations, and version management.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end users.

System Development and Enhancement

• Design, build, and maintain financial models, applications, and workflows using in-house tools and EPM platforms such as Pigment.
• Develop secure data flows and REST API integrations connecting FP&A platforms and data warehouses with enterprise systems such as Workday Financials and Salesforce CRM.
• Develop SQL-based data models, ETL pipelines, and reporting infrastructure supporting financial close, forecasting, and business intelligence.
• Use Claude and other AI tools to automate FP&A work and build scalable financial planning, forecasting, and reporting solutions.

Business Partnership and Process Improvement

• Partner with FP&A, Accounting, and other Finance teams to understand business problems and develop technical solutions.
• Support monthly forecasting, annual and long-range planning, workforce planning, OPEX forecasting, and balance sheet and cash flow forecasting.
• Identify and implement improvements to Finance platforms and processes.
• Participate in testing and validation of system changes.
• Assist with training and onboarding new system users.

Data Management and Quality

• Ensure financial data accuracy and integrity across systems.
• Develop and maintain data validation rules and quality checks.
• Troubleshoot data discrepancies and coordinate resolution with relevant teams.
• Support data migration and transformation activities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with FP&A systems, EPM platforms, and Finance data warehouses, focused on financial planning, forecasting, and analysis.
• Hands-on experience administering and developing solutions in enterprise planning platforms such as Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, or similar tools.
• Advanced SQL and data modeling skills, including the creation and maintenance of system integrations and data pipelines.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and system designs.
• Strong understanding of FP&A processes, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Techno-functional background, such as CFA experience combined with hands-on development skills.
• Experience owning changes in a shared production codebase alongside a product engineering team.
• Warehouse and analytics engineering experience with dbt, BigQuery, or comparable technologies.
• Experience building Finance applications with large language models.
• Programming or scripting experience in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Experience with financial planning and analysis, pre-IPO companies, and scaling financial systems during rapid growth.
• Knowledge of financial data security and compliance requirements.
• Certification in relevant planning platforms, such as Pigment or Anaplan Model Builder.
• Project management experience and experience leading system implementation workstreams.
