IT Systems Engineer, Client Platform Engineer

Anthropic is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to own its Client Platform Engineering endpoint platform. The Endpoint team manages the device fleet as a distributed platform across macOS, Windows, and mobile, using configuration as code, pull requests, CI, staging environments, and canary deployments.

Responsibilities

• Own endpoint configuration as code, including MDM policies, configuration profiles, and remediation scripts across macOS, Windows, and mobile.
• Operate the MDM platform as a production service, including infrastructure as code, observability, upgrades, and incident response.
• Build patch management automation with rapid enforcement timelines while maintaining a good user experience.
• Design zero-touch provisioning for sealed devices.
• Manage software distribution, including managed mobile app distribution.
• Turn fleet telemetry into policies, dashboards, and early drift warnings.
• Build Claude-driven automation to reduce operational toil.
• Partner with Corporate Security on endpoint hardening, binary authorization, and compliance controls.
• Serve as the deep escalation tier for endpoint issues that IT Operations cannot resolve.
• Help define the endpoint roadmap, make architecture decisions, and deliver complex projects from conception to production.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building secure IT systems in complex environments, or Staff-level experience leading cross-team projects that changed how an organization operates.
• Experience managing endpoint fleets of thousands of macOS and Windows devices through a modern MDM.
• Experience treating endpoint configuration as code using scripted deployments or GitOps.
• Deep expertise in either macOS internals or Windows internals, with working knowledge of the other. Relevant technologies include launchD, configuration profiles, TCC, system extensions, CSPs, the registry, PowerShell, and BitLocker.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience delivering complex projects and applying product engineering rigor to IT Engineering.

Additional Technical Skills

• Python, shell scripting, and PowerShell.
• macOS or Windows internals.
• Querying live device state at fleet scale.
• Modern MDM platforms such as Jamf, Intune, Workspace ONE, or equivalent.
• GitOps, CI/CD for configuration management, and infrastructure as code.
• Public cloud fundamentals, including containers, managed databases, CDNs, and monitoring.
• Device lifecycle automation, including zero-touch enrollment, patching, and software distribution.
• Endpoint security fundamentals.
• Experience operating MDM platforms as services, using open-source endpoint tooling, building telemetry-gated progressive rollouts, running infrastructure as code in a public cloud, or developing endpoint tools in Swift or Go is advantageous.

Education and Logistics

A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. The role has no application deadline and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Anthropic expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more office time. Anthropic explicitly sponsors visas where possible and makes reasonable efforts to support visa applications with an immigration lawyer.

Compensation

The annual salary range is $325,000–$360,000 USD.
