Details
OpenAI’s Ads Marketing Science function is seeking a senior individual contributor to help advertisers prove and improve media performance. The role combines rigorous measurement expertise, client judgment, and hands-on execution across verification, attribution, incrementality, brand measurement, marketing mix modeling (MMM), and scalable advertiser reporting.
The Marketing Scientist will work with Sales, partners, advertisers, agencies, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Partnerships, Legal, and Privacy. Initial priorities include advancing incrementality measurement, onboarding measurement partners to privacy-forward workflows and integrations, and creating reusable programs, tools, agents, skills, and workflows that scale Marketing Science support.
The role is based in San Francisco or New York City and follows a hybrid schedule, Monday through Wednesday.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales, advertisers, and agencies to shape learning agendas, interpret results, and improve media performance.
- Apply advertising measurement methodologies including attribution, incrementality, marketing mix modeling, and related approaches.
- Develop scalable measurement programs and guidance that improve decision-making and adoption of rigorous measurement practices.
- Shape advertiser-facing insights experiences that translate campaign and audience data into actionable performance recommendations.
- Conduct auction optimization analyses to identify delivery, pricing, and performance opportunities.
- Communicate complex concepts clearly while maintaining high standards for privacy, quality, transparency, and responsible interpretation.
- Collaborate with third-party measurement providers on partner onboarding, APIs, and data integrations.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to turn measurement methodology into scalable tools, reporting, and platform capabilities.
Requirements
- 10+ years of deep expertise in advertising measurement, including experimentation, incrementality testing, attribution, and econometric approaches such as MMM.
- Experience working directly with large datasets using SQL, Python, or R.
- Experience with AI-enabled analytical workflows while maintaining analytical rigor and sound judgment.
- Ability to advise sophisticated clients, navigate measurement discrepancies, and participate in executive conversations.
- Experience designing or operating lift and incrementality programs, including experiment design, power analysis, governance, diagnostics, and statistical quality standards.
- Experience with third-party measurement providers, partner onboarding, APIs, or data integrations.
- Ability to translate complex statistical concepts into practical decisions for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments and influence across teams without formal authority.
