Principal Technical Marketing Engineer

Grafana Labs is looking for a technically fluent engineer to build powerful demos, explain complex systems clearly, and help SRE and platform engineering leaders understand the value of Grafana’s open approach to observability.

The role supports Grafana’s shift from dashboards to agentic observability by creating technical positioning, seller enablement, demos, workshops, webinars, and reusable content. You will act as a technical bridge between Product Marketing, Product, Sales Engineering, Developer Relations, and Field Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Build Technical Content and Demos

• Create and maintain polished, narrative-driven demos highlighting Grafana’s value for SRE and platform engineering leaders.
• Record high-quality technical demo videos and walkthroughs in partnership with video and content teams.
• Lead webinars, workshops, and technical sessions for evaluators.
• Explain not only how Grafana works, but why its approach is differentiated and valuable.
• Use AI tools to generate variations, summaries, and reusable technical content assets.

Enable Solutions Engineers

• Serve as Product Marketing’s technical liaison to the Solutions Engineering organization.
• Produce technical enablement assets, value-driven talk tracks, competitive narratives, and demo best practices.
• Help Solutions Engineers and sellers communicate Grafana’s technical story with clarity, confidence, and differentiation.

Collaborate on Buyer Engagement

• Partner with Product Marketing Managers to identify buyer personas, problems, and technical messages.
• Help shape content strategies for SRE and engineering leaders.
• Extend technical narratives into analyst briefings, industry forums, podcasts, conferences, and online technical communities.
• Bring a technical perspective to Product Marketing planning, campaigns, and enablement.

Use Automation and AI

• Partner with software engineers to streamline demo setup, content workflows, and asset updates through workflows, agents, scripts, and AI-driven tools.
• Use automation to make technical content more repeatable, discoverable, and scalable across teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a technical role such as Solutions Engineering, SRE, DevOps, backend engineering, technical Product Marketing, or a similar field.
• Ability and willingness to travel to training and customer events for 10–12 weeks per year.
• Strong understanding of observability concepts and the needs of SRE and platform engineering teams.
• Ability to translate deep technical concepts into clear, value-focused stories.
• Experience presenting technical content through demos, workshops, or webinars.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a crisp, structured, and persuasive style.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and comfort working with Product Marketing, Product, Solutions Engineering, Developer Relations, and Field Engineering teams.
• High ownership mindset and the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.
• Comfort with light scripting or workflow automation.

Bonus Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, or similar observability tools.
• Background in observability or platform engineering.
• Prior experience in Sales Engineering, Developer Relations, or technical Product Marketing.
• Familiarity with demo environment automation or infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Exceptional live presentation or workshop facilitation skills.
