Principal Technical Marketing Engineer

Grafana Labs is looking for a technically fluent engineer to build powerful demos, explain complex systems clearly, and help SRE and platform engineering leaders understand the value of Grafana Cloud and its open approach to observability. The role sits within Product Marketing and acts as a technical bridge between Product, Sales, Solutions Engineering, and other teams.

Responsibilities

Build technical content and demos

• Create and maintain polished, narrative-driven demos highlighting Grafana’s value for SRE and platform engineering leaders.
• Record technical demo videos and walkthroughs with video and content teams.
• Lead webinars, workshops, and technical sessions for evaluators.
• Explain both how Grafana works and why its approach is differentiated and valuable.
• Use AI tools to generate variations, summaries, and reusable technical content assets.

Enable Solutions Engineers and sellers

• Serve as Product Marketing’s technical liaison to the Solutions Engineering organization.
• Produce technical enablement assets, value-focused talk tracks, competitive narratives, and demo best practices.
• Help Solutions Engineers and sellers communicate Grafana’s technical story with clarity, confidence, and differentiation.

Support technical buyer engagement

• Partner with Product Marketing Managers to identify key buyer personas, problems, and technical messages.
• Extend technical narratives through analyst briefings, industry forums, podcasts, conferences, and online technical communities.
• Bring a technical perspective to Product Marketing planning and ensure content, campaigns, and enablement address the challenges of SREs and engineering leaders.

Use automation and AI

• Partner with software engineers to streamline demo setup, content workflows, and asset updates using workflows, agents, scripts, and AI-driven tools.
• Use automation to make technical content more repeatable, discoverable, and scalable.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a technical role such as Solutions Engineering, SRE, DevOps, backend engineering, technical Product Marketing, or a similar field.
• Ability and willingness to travel to training and customer events for 10–12 weeks per year.
• Strong understanding of observability concepts and the needs of SRE and platform teams.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, value-focused stories.
• Experience presenting technical content through demos, workshops, or webinars.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a crisp, structured, and persuasive style.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and comfort working with Product Marketing, Product, Solutions Engineering, Developer Relations, and Field Engineering.
• High ownership and the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.
• Comfort with light scripting or workflow automation.

Bonus Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, or similar observability tools.
• Background in observability or platform engineering.
• Experience in Sales Engineering, Developer Relations, or technical Product Marketing.
• Familiarity with demo environment automation or infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Exceptional live presentation or workshop facilitation skills.

• UK base compensation range: GBP 103,958–124,750 per year.
