A Product Designer role on the NordVPN Apps Design team, responsible for owning design projects end to end across mobile, desktop, and browser extension experiences. The role involves questioning briefs, solving complex problems, applying and extending the design system, validating decisions with evidence, and partnering closely with product owners, UX researchers, and engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design native-feeling experiences for iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and browser extensions while maintaining the Nord design language.
  • Explore multiple design directions and understand the rationale behind design decisions.
  • Surface assumptions early with product owners and engineers, challenge briefs when evidence supports a different direction, and simplify or remove unnecessary flows.
  • Apply the design system while identifying gaps and proposing new components when needed.
  • Create prototypes appropriate to the problem, including quick mockups, high-fidelity interactive prototypes, and prototypes using real data.
  • Support design decisions with evidence by partnering with UX Research or conducting validation independently.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers throughout implementation.
  • Own Design QA to ensure the shipped product matches the intended design.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in product design for mobile and desktop applications.
  • A portfolio demonstrating experience across platforms and growing ownership of complex problems.
  • Strong prototyping skills and the ability to choose the appropriate tool for the question.
  • Constructive communication and disagreement-management skills.
  • Ability to incorporate engineering constraints early and build trust with cross-functional partners.
  • Meticulous attention to visual and interaction details.
  • Ability to create high-quality, user-friendly experiences.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience designing accessible and inclusive interfaces for people with disabilities.
  • Understanding of how to apply WCAG conformance criteria in design.
  • Experience in motion design.

Benefits

  • Online and in-person training, access to Coursera and Skillshare, mentorship, and internal career opportunities.
  • Extra vacation days, sick leave, special-occasion leave, and parenting-related days off.
  • Premium private health insurance available in Lithuania and Poland.
  • Free subscriptions to Calm, Headspace, and Mindletic, plus resilience and mindfulness training and mental health events.
