Details

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Sail Core builds Stripe's frontend platform, including the data layer, navigation, observability, and developer tooling used by more than 50 product teams to ship web applications, with the Dashboard being the largest. The team is seeking a deeply technical product manager to own the platform strategy, drive cross-company modernization initiatives, and set the standard for frontend excellence at Stripe.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for Stripe's frontend platform.
  • Drive the largest frontend modernization initiative at Stripe while maintaining architectural quality.
  • Redefine frontend development with agentic tooling.
  • Define and track metrics such as latency, build times, and reliability SLOs to support difficult trade-off decisions.
  • Serve as the product voice in deeply technical decisions, including API surface design, framework deprecation sequencing, extraction boundaries, and migration tooling.
  • Partner with engineering to make architectural trade-offs grounded in user impact.
  • Drive large-scale migrations or platform transitions across multiple teams, including sequencing, dependency management, and stakeholder alignment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience, including at least 2 years on platform, infrastructure, or developer tools teams.
  • Strong technical fluency in frontend web development, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React component models, build systems, and performance optimization.
  • Experience driving large-scale migrations or platform transitions across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated use of quantitative metrics to drive platform investment decisions.
  • Experience partnering with engineering on architectural trade-offs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional frontend engineering experience.
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to a legacy extraction or monolith decomposition effort.
  • Understanding of performance optimization, including cascading re-renders.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to engineers, designers, and executives.
  • Preference for platform solutions over one-off fixes while understanding when speed requires an alternative.
