Senior Frontend Engineer, Home Experience

Reddit is a community of communities, built on shared interests, passion, and trust. The Feeds Experience team is responsible for high-traffic feed pages across Reddit's apps and website. This role will help build smooth, intuitive, and engaging experiences for hundreds of millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to build products and features for Reddit users.
• Contribute to engineering standards, improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and mentor engineers.
• Own the full development cycle for major projects, including design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Write and review code and design documents, provide feedback on product specifications and mocks, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Drive the planning, development, and implementation of critical projects across Reddit's web architecture in collaboration with backend and client engineers.
• Promote metrics-led execution with a focus on operational excellence and system observability.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to develop product and engineering roadmaps.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience in one or more frontend-focused programming languages, including JavaScript, TypeScript, or ES6.
• Experience with one or more frontend web frameworks, such as Lit, Polymer, React, Vue, or Angular, as well as CSS.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to break down and prioritize tasks while keeping projects on schedule.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong focus on user experience and usability, with an understanding of how people interact with software. Experience with social products is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, self-direction, innovation, and a bias toward action in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences in a fully remote environment.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and Thrift basics, as well as the ability to design and implement maintainable APIs, is a plus.
• Understanding of large-scale web applications and techniques for accommodating high requests per second and complex pages is a major plus.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $190,800–$267,100 USD. The position is also eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and, depending on the position offered, may be eligible to receive a commission. Final offer amounts depend on factors including skills, depth of experience, and relevant licenses or credentials.
