About proficiency levels:
- 1-2 — basic awareness. Minimal hands-on experience, and a rudimentary understanding of the technology's purpose;
- 3-6 — daily use. Comfortable and regular usage, capable of handling common tasks and challenges related to the technology;
- 7-9 — you are an expert, you can teach others, you know all the pitfalls and tricks;
- 10 — exceptional knowledge, comprehensive understanding, and adeptness in all aspects of the technology, including advanced problem-solving. Think twice before claiming or demanding such level.

About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Stripe's mission is to increase the GDP of the internet.
About the Team
The Product Security Data Platforms team is a newly established engineering team within Stripe Security. Its mission is to build foundational infrastructure that provides users with visibility into the security posture of their Stripe integration. The team is expanding Stripe's focus to provide a comprehensive security telemetry platform that helps businesses protect their entire digital ecosystem on Stripe.
The team is building a large-scale, customer-facing security data pipeline and presentation layer. This API-first service transforms massive streams of behavioral data into actionable security intelligence. The work combines high-throughput data engineering and cybersecurity to create systems that help sophisticated companies monitor, detect, and respond to threats in real time.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable foundations by implementing components of a highly available, low-latency pipeline capable of processing and augmenting millions of events per second into structured security telemetry.
- Develop core services and streaming APIs that enable enterprise customers to ingest security signals into their internal security operations centers and analytics tools.
- Partner with security researchers and threat detection experts to build logic that identifies anomalous behavior and surfaces high-fidelity security insights.
- Participate in technical design discussions covering data modeling, storage strategies, and abstraction layers for future security products.
- Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to code quality, system resilience, and operational maturity for a product requiring 99.99%+ availability.
- Collaborate with Stripe's core platform and data teams to leverage global infrastructure while ensuring security data remains isolated and protected.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software development experience, with a history of shipping and maintaining complex, large-scale systems.
- Expertise in data engineering and distributed systems, with significant experience building and operating high-throughput data pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, or similar streaming technologies.
- Strong programming fundamentals and significant experience with languages such as Java, C++, or Rust.
- Experience maintaining business-critical services with high-availability requirements, on-call rotations, observability, and debugging.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical writing skills, including drafting design documents and mentoring other engineers while working with non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with or interest in security analytics, threat detection systems, or observability platforms.
- Experience building infrastructure or services used by other engineers or external developers.
- Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure tools such as AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
- Product intuition and an interest in 0-to-1 initiatives involving requirements and user experience definition alongside engineering.
- Front-end or full-stack experience, particularly with React or TypeScript.
