Details

The Compliance Engineering team prepares Reddit’s platforms for evolving privacy, security, and regulatory requirements. The team builds products that establish the foundation of trust in the Reddit platform and partners with teams across the company to ensure platforms and features meet high standards. Engineers work across multiple domains and technology stacks in dynamic and ambiguous problem spaces.

Responsibilities

Adapt Reddit’s platforms to an evolving privacy, security, and regulatory landscape.
Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to build trusted, compliant experiences for millions of users.
Influence technical and product strategy and help define a new product space.
Own product areas end-to-end, including technical design, coding, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives critical to Reddit’s business and platform integrity.
Improve engineering workflows, set standards, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

5+ years of backend development experience across multiple parts of the backend stack, including databases, networking, and efficient computing.
Experience developing with Go, Python, Postgres, Redis, Thrift, and GraphQL.
Experience deploying applications with Docker and Kubernetes on AWS.
Experience as a tech lead on projects and teams with 3+ backend engineers.
Ability to design and implement complex distributed systems operating under high load.
Self-directed, innovative, and action-oriented approach in fast-paced environments.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment with technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience mentoring engineers, owning team processes, and leading cross-functional projects is preferred.

Compensation

The base salary range is $190,800–$267,100 USD. The position may also be eligible for a commission depending on the position offered. Final offers vary based on factors including skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses or credentials.
