Senior Backend Engineer - Infrastructure (ClickPipes)

ClickHouse is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and maintain the infrastructure powering ClickPipes, a high-performance data onboarding platform that integrates diverse data sources into ClickHouse at petabyte scale. The role involves solving challenging technical problems across distributed systems, cloud services, Kubernetes, and platform reliability while working with significant autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and scale the real-time data onboarding platform to handle increasing data volumes.
• Own and evolve infrastructure across multiple cloud providers, including AWS and future expansion to GCP and Azure.
• Improve deployment pipelines, infrastructure automation, and operational processes.
• Drive technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions affecting platform scalability and resilience.
• Participate in on-call rotations, maintain system reliability, and respond to production incidents.
• Continuously improve systems using operational metrics, customer feedback, and evolving business requirements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally and drive projects forward independently.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience building backend systems.
• Expertise in Golang, Kubernetes, and Terraform or a comparable infrastructure-as-code tool.
• Experience with cloud-native architecture and solid knowledge of at least one major cloud service provider.
• Strong customer focus and the ability to use customer feedback to inform product development.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Exceptional production debugging skills and the ability to solve complex technical issues in fast-paced environments.
• A high-autonomy, founder-minded approach focused on impact, innovation, and measurable results.

Compensation

• Typical US starting salary: $164,000–$214,000 USD per year.
• Typical US Premium Markets starting salary: $183,000–$238,000 USD per year.
• Premium market ranges may apply in locations such as the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metro Area.
