Join a specialized team building secure, highly scalable ClickHouse Cloud database platforms for government and enterprise clients across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. The role focuses on architecting resilient solutions for regulated and mission-critical systems, including restricted or air-gapped environments, while supporting compliance with NIST, FedRAMP, Protected B, IRAP, and other security frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop highly available, scalable, and secure ClickHouse Cloud platforms for regulated and mission-critical environments.
- Build deployment automation across cloud, hybrid, on-premises, and disconnected environments.
- Collaborate with Dataplane and ClickHouse Core teams to maintain software parity with existing cloud infrastructure.
- Solve scaling, reliability, and performance challenges in regulated environments.
- Design and deploy ClickHouse Cloud on Kubernetes and containerized environments with high availability, replication, and backup.
- Develop and maintain Helm charts, operators, and Kubernetes manifests for database management.
- Automate the building, scaling, and troubleshooting of infrastructure components across diverse deployment models.
- Optimize ClickHouse Cloud database performance and storage architecture for on-premises, hybrid, and government cloud deployments.
- Integrate secure authentication, encryption, and access-control mechanisms.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for system architecture, security, and compliance audits.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance, security, and operational issues.
- Automate deployments and lifecycle management using Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines.
Requirements
- Permanent residency and/or U.S. citizenship required due to U.S. federal contract requirements.
- At least 6 years of relevant software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
- Experience with ClickHouse or relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes tools, including Helm, Kustomize, operators, Istio, and service mesh technologies.
- Experience with secure, regulated, or restricted network environments, including air-gapped architectures, is a strong plus.
- Experience with containerized deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift, ideally in regulated or enterprise environments.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or on-premises equivalents.
- Proficiency in Go or Python for automation and integration.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving and production-debugging skills.
- Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability.
Compensation
- Typical U.S. starting salary: $141,000–$208,000 USD per year.
- Typical U.S. premium-market starting salary: $157,000–$230,000 USD per year. Premium markets include the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area.
