Details

Sentry helps developers fix errors and performance issues before users notice. The Developer Experience team is looking for a hands-on builder with strong opinions on developer documentation who can work at the intersection of shipping products and helping developers use them effectively.

This hybrid role is based at Sentry's headquarters in San Francisco and involves partnering with Product and Engineering to test and ship features, solve problems for customers, gather developer feedback, and create content and product narratives.

Responsibilities

Attend and host events and meetups in the developer community.
Track current trends, influential contributors, technical communities, and emerging software development topics.
Build content that encourages developers to build their software alongside Sentry.
Gather insights from users, the developer tools ecosystem, and the broader software development community.
Partner with Engineering, Product, Design, Sales Engineering, Business Operations, Communications, Product Marketing, and other Marketing functions.
Develop technical content, tutorials, product narratives, and community programming.
Influence product direction through customer and developer feedback.
Propose product solutions, identify content and execution plans, coordinate with partners, and execute initiatives.

Requirements

5+ years of experience as a developer.
3+ years in an advocacy or educational role, such as developer relations, developer evangelism, technical content creation, or leading developer communities through forums or events.
At least three examples of technical educational content for professional developers, such as tutorials, video series, blog series, or courses.
At least one dedicated blog, forum, or website with a developer-focused audience, including the ability to explain how success was measured and which promotional mechanisms were used to drive visibility.
At least one project using a common modern development language or framework.
Active participation and contribution to technical communities on platforms such as Discord, Stack Overflow, Reddit, Twitter, or TikTok.
Ability to prioritize competing opportunities and balance customer needs with business priorities.
Stellar written and verbal communication skills.
An educator, builder, and community-oriented communicator who can demonstrate products through useful technical concepts and tutorials rather than simply selling them.
A down-to-earth attitude, humility, and a dry sense of humor are a plus.

Benefits

Base salary range of $150,000 to $190,000 USD.
