Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain high-scale, distributed systems.
Build core networking solutions, including load balancing, mTLS networking, fleet health, and observability for microservices.
Create effective internal infrastructure experiences that enable Stripe's products to operate globally and at scale.
Scope, design, implement, and deploy robust solutions while balancing reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency, engineering velocity, and cost.
Develop software solutions that improve resiliency, reliability, efficiency, and management at scale.
Contribute to team strategy, roadmaps, tooling, processes, and culture.
Set clear goals and provide regular feedback on team member performance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field, plus five years of progressive post-bachelor's software engineering experience; alternatively, a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field, plus three years of software engineering experience.
At least three years of experience with:
- Software development in cloud systems, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Technical architecture and design.
- Building operating infrastructure and tools that empower developers.
- Java and Go software development.
- Developing, maintaining, and debugging distributed systems built with open-source tools.
- Breaking down complex systems, identifying shortcomings and optimization opportunities, and making data-driven cost-performance tradeoffs.
- Kubernetes, Amazon EC2, Envoy, Linux, and Puppet.
