Details

Reddit's Core Platform team facilitates millions of API requests running on the Core API Platform. The team is responsible for APIs that build listings and enable posts, comments, media, and other features and data models that serve as sources of truth for Reddit.

As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical coaching and mentorship while helping ensure high uptime and strong performance. You will work with teammates to build and scale a media platform supporting Reddit's continued growth and impacting hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

Develop and design innovative solutions for scaling Reddit.
Build platform API projects that scale across the organization.
Mentor and coach junior engineers on the team.
Build, deliver, and operate services scaling to hundreds of thousands of transactions per second with five or more nines of availability.
Optimize Reddit's media experience for users worldwide.

Requirements

Software development experience in Golang or Python.
At least 5 years of experience with large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
Familiarity with API platform service architectures.
A history of building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
Media delivery expertise spanning backend systems through to the end user, including experience optimizing media performance, scalability, and delivery across different stages of the stack.

The base salary range for this position is $190,800–$267,100 USD. The position may span more than one career level and may be eligible for commission depending on the position offered.
