Details

Reddit's Core Platform team facilitates millions of API requests running the Core API Platform. The team is responsible for the APIs that build listings and enable posts, comments, media, and other features and data models that serve as sources of truth for Reddit.

As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical coaching and mentorship while helping ensure high uptime and strong performance. You will collaborate with teammates to build and scale a media platform supporting Reddit's continued growth and impacting hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

Develop and design innovative solutions for scaling Reddit.
Build platform API projects that scale across the organization.
Mentor and coach junior engineers on the team.
Build, deliver, and operate services handling hundreds of thousands of transactions per second with five-nines-or-better availability.
Optimize Reddit's media experience for hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
Work with engineering teams to develop a roadmap aligned with the needs of a growing engineering organization.

Requirements

Software development experience with Golang or Python.
At least 5 years of experience with large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
Familiarity with API platform service architectures.
A history of building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
Media delivery expertise covering back-end systems through to the user.
Experience optimizing media performance, scalability, and delivery across different stages of the stack.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $190,800–$267,100 USD. The position is also eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and, depending on the position offered, may be eligible to receive a commission.
