Reddit's Machine Learning Platform team owns the infrastructure powering recommendations, content discovery, user and content quantification, and other systems supporting Growth, Ads, Feeds, and Core Machine Learning teams.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the development of a large-scale GenAI Platform at Reddit.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of the LLM Gateway, including unified API endpoints for internally and externally hosted LLMs, rate and token limit management, and intelligent failover mechanisms to improve uptime and reliability.
• Design and develop machine learning and generative AI systems in cloud-based production environments at scale.
• Build and manage enterprise-grade retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications using embeddings, vector search, and retrieval pipelines.
• Implement and operationalize agentic AI workflows with tool use using frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph.
• Drive adoption of MLOps and LLMOps practices, including CI/CD automation, versioning, testing, and lifecycle management.
• Establish best practices for observability, monitoring, evaluation, and governance of generative AI pipelines in production.
• Demonstrate strong ownership and platform thinking.
• Lead AI platform delivery from concept through production.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, AI platform engineering, or cloud AI deployment roles.
• Experience operating orchestration systems such as Kubernetes at scale.
• Deep experience with cloud-based technologies supporting machine learning platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud Storage, Terraform, and related tools.
• Proficiency with common machine learning programming languages and frameworks, including Go and Python.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and ease of use, with an understanding of the generative AI product development lifecycle.
• Knowledge of model serving, inference pipelines, monitoring, and observability for AI systems is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with modern AI and machine learning frameworks such as LangChain, Vertex AI Agent Builder, TensorFlow, and PyTorch is a plus.

Additional Information

The role has a base salary range of $190,800–$267,100 USD. The position may span more than one career level and may be eligible for commission depending on the position offered.
