Details

ClickHouse is launching a strategic Postgres initiative to extend its developer-first cloud platform, enabling teams to integrate Postgres with ClickHouse and power end-to-end data workflows. The role involves building platform services, operational tooling, database integrations, and developer experience capabilities for ClickHouse Cloud.

Responsibilities

Design and build backend services that orchestrate and manage database clusters in ClickHouse Cloud.
Extend the platform control plane, written in Ruby, Go, and TypeScript, to support new Postgres capabilities.
Contribute to PostgreSQL extensions and data plane agents written in C, C++, or Rust.
Build automation and tooling to simplify cluster provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management.
Collaborate with infrastructure, SRE, and product teams to ensure operational excellence, performance, and reliability.
Develop APIs and integrations that expose new Postgres functionality to customers and internal systems.
Improve observability, deployment safety, and debugging workflows for database services.
Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and on-call rotations.
Identify opportunities, drive execution, and deliver meaningful impact with autonomy.

Requirements

6+ years of software engineering experience, ideally building or operating database or cloud platform systems.
Deep understanding of Postgres configuration, extensions, operations, and performance tuning.
Strong programming experience in one or more of Ruby, Go, Rust, C, or Python, with willingness to work across languages.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, APIs, and automation tools including Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
Understanding of distributed systems, data replication, and service orchestration patterns.
Pragmatic, detail-oriented approach and comfort with greenfield development and operational ownership.
Ability to contribute across backend APIs, platform automation, Postgres internals, and debugging.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Compensation

The typical starting salary range in the United States is $140,000–$208,000 USD. A premium market range of $155,000–$230,000 USD may apply in locations such as the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metro Area. Actual compensation depends on factors including qualifications, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs.
