At Coinbase, you will help build the future of finance in a remote-first, but not remote-only environment. Employees are expected to participate in quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.”
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Stablecoin team within the Developer group, you will help build and scale Coinbase Custom Stablecoins (CCS), a platform that enables partners to launch branded, USDC-backed stablecoins on Coinbase infrastructure. The role combines backend engineering and smart contract development, covering the services and on-chain contracts that support issuance, reserves, minting, burning, and rewards distribution.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve smart contracts that mint, burn, and safeguard custom stablecoin supply, shipping changes securely and audibly.
- Build and scale backend services for onboarding, issuance, reserve accounting, and rewards distribution.
- Partner with product, design, and technical leads to turn the stablecoin roadmap into shipped quarterly features.
- Drive architectural decisions across backend services and smart contract systems, balancing security, scalability, and delivery speed.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code and promote operational excellence across the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including designing, building, and operating production backend services.
- Experience writing, testing, and deploying smart contracts in production using Solidity or similar EVM languages, ideally involving real economic value.
- Ability to own a service end to end and compose service-oriented architecture at scale.
- Working knowledge of on-chain security and correctness considerations, including audits, upgradeability, access control, and key management.
- Familiarity with Golang and on-chain fundamentals such as Ethereum or similar platforms.
- Direct experience building DeFi or stablecoin infrastructure is preferred.
- Responsible use of generative AI, with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
Compensation
The annual base salary range is $186,065–$218,900 USD, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
