Senior Staff Product Designer, Risk

Details

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Product Design team defines and delivers user-facing experiences across Stripe, working closely with engineers, product managers, researchers, strategists, operations, data scientists, and marketers.

The Risk team designs experiences that help businesses get started on Stripe, stay compliant, and grow with confidence. This role will shape critical Risk experiences, new products, AI-driven and agent-friendly workflows, and design standards across the team. It will also contribute to Stripe's modular, configurable, API-first risk capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Shape the future of Risk at Stripe, from core user journeys to entirely new product surfaces.
• Design experiences that help users onboard quickly, stay compliant, and manage risk with clarity and control.
• Partner with product, engineering, policy, operations, and research teams to define near-term improvements and longer-term opportunities.
• Raise the craft bar for risk management experiences, where quality and trust are especially important.
• Work across teams to create design patterns for risk and compliance experiences across Stripe.
• Explore, shape, and prototype new ideas and products.
• Influence strategy through product thinking, storytelling, and design judgment.
• Lead design on complex, cross-functional problems involving multiple stakeholders and constraints.
• Collaborate across the Risk and wider Stripe design teams to influence product surfaces and visual standards.
• Help other Risk designers and cross-functional partners improve craft and adopt systems thinking.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience designing products.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent craft, systems thinking, and end-to-end design, including a strong understanding of AI tools.
• Experience leading complex product work in close partnership with product management and engineering.
• Experience shaping ambiguous problem spaces and driving clarity through design.
• A track record of influencing cross-functional teams and product direction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working across systems, strategy, and 0-to-1 product thinking.
• Ability to turn complex systems, policies, and edge cases into elegant product experiences.
• Comfort with ambiguous and strategic problem spaces.
• Strong storytelling skills and the ability to align partners around a clear point of view.
• Ability to move between big-picture thinking and interaction-level craft.
• Experience building trust through design, especially in high-stakes or sensitive user moments.
• Ability to work across disciplines and build credibility with technical, operational, and policy-oriented partners.
