Details
Airbnb's UX Writing team is a core design discipline that works closely with Experience Design, Experience Research, and Design Program Management throughout the product development process.
The International team makes Airbnb's products more local by applying a deep understanding of regional needs, cultural and linguistic norms, and regulatory environments. Working alongside the London-based team, this role supports country-specific features for Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom. The role collaborates with country managers, localization experts, linguists and translators, researchers, product specialists, engineers, and data scientists to create meaningful and inclusive products for guests and hosts worldwide.
This role is based in London or within easy commuting distance.
Responsibilities
- Write clear and concise copy across multiple product touchpoints.
- Define and drive the UX Writing function within Global Markets by establishing workflows, partnerships, and standards for a newly forming team.
- Review and mentor other UX writers.
- Drive strategy and UX Writing deliverables across multiple highly complex projects.
- Develop strategic ideas based on product requirements, data, and research.
- Determine which language and design patterns best serve the user experience.
- Present content and design work to Design Directors, executives, and other stakeholders.
- Drive consensus with stakeholders and partners on content recommendations.
- Manage copy deadlines and deliver detailed copy across multiple projects.
- Collaborate with accessibility, anti-discrimination, legal, localization, and country manager partners.
- Partner with the central UX Writing team to align Global Markets work with shared standards, voice, and quality expectations.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in UX writing, content design, or content strategy.
- Experience in global consumer technology companies or marketplaces is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead content and copy work from concept through detailed design.
- Experience working with localization platforms and/or translation services.
- Experience working with and presenting to executive teams.
- Experience writing content principles, messaging frameworks, and style guides.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the design and build process.
- Solid understanding of user experience design principles and interaction patterns.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to move work forward in an ambiguous environment.
- Comfortable working alongside other design disciplines in Figma, Airbnb's primary collaboration tool.
- Passion for Airbnb's mission, commitment to diversity, and a global mindset.
- Bilingual proficiency in German, Spanish, French, or Italian is welcome but not required.
Compensation
The United Kingdom annual base pay range is £126,000–£158,000 GBP. The role may also be eligible for a bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. Actual base pay depends on factors including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
