Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees should expect quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.”
The Design Systems team within the Consumer & Business group owns the Coinbase Design System (CDS), which supports quality, consistency, and trust across products used by millions of customers. As a Product Designer II, you will shape the foundation powering Coinbase products, developing scalable components and patterns for first-time crypto users and advanced traders. You will work closely with Design and Engineering teams across Platform and Consumer organizations to make complex experiences simple.
Responsibilities
- Own the iterative improvement of design system components and patterns, ensuring they scale across web and mobile products.
- Drive new system features from ideation through prototyping, user testing, and production delivery.
- Partner with Design and Engineering teams across the company to document, define, and evangelize scalable design patterns.
- Participate in design reviews, seek specific feedback, and incorporate relevant input to raise the quality bar.
- Execute on the design systems product roadmap and contribute to long-term systems strategy.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional product design experience, including a specific focus on design systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing scalable components and systems for consumer-facing web and mobile products.
- Proficiency with AI design tools such as Figma Make, Vercel V0, and Cursor, applied to systems-level work.
- Expert-level Figma skills, including prototyping design system components within product screens.
- Proven experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineers, user researchers, and product teams to ship systems at scale.
- Ability to use generative AI responsibly, maintain human oversight, and deliver business-ready outputs that improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
Compensation
The annual base salary range is $144,500–$170,000 USD, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, as well as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
