Details

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive cross-functional security, privacy, IT, and compliance initiatives at the intersection of infrastructure, product, and policy. The role focuses on executing complex programs that reduce internal data access, prevent misuse, and deliver security capabilities across insider threat, information security, physical security, and information technology.

This is a deeply technical, execution-focused role requiring structured program leadership, effective collaboration across organizational boundaries, and principled judgment to scale trust, governance, and security across OpenAI's systems and products.

Responsibilities

  • Drive critical security and compliance programs, including vulnerability management, merger and acquisition security and integration, infrastructure hardening, and datacenter security management.
  • Collaborate deeply on technical architecture and resolve technical problems in partnership with engineering.
  • Partner with IT, Infrastructure, Application, Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to build scalable programs and deliver security outcomes across multiple disciplines.
  • Establish scalable frameworks and programs for vulnerability management, evidence collection, incident response coordination, supply chain risk management, and device security.
  • Translate privacy and security commitments into engineering milestones and drive their implementation across systems.
  • Create and maintain program-level visibility across risk areas, security milestones, and cross-organizational dependencies.
  • Communicate status, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions clearly to technical and executive audiences.
  • Drive cross-functional execution with urgency, care, quality, and accountability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading complex technical programs focused on infrastructure security, data privacy, compliance, or enterprise platform capabilities.
  • Deep fluency in the intersection of engineering systems, security controls, and regulatory expectations.
  • Proven success driving highly cross-functional initiatives across engineering, infrastructure, legal, compliance, and product stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences and build durable trust with partners.
  • Systems thinking, structured problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, high-trust environments.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $165,400–$285,000 USD per year, plus equity and performance-related bonuses for eligible employees.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts.
  • Pre-tax flexible spending and commuter accounts.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
  • Paid parental, medical, and caregiver leave.
  • Paid time off, company holidays, and paid office closures.
  • Mental health and wellness support.
  • Employer-paid basic life and disability coverage.
  • Annual learning and development stipend.
  • Daily meals in offices and eligible meal delivery credits.
  • Relocation support for eligible employees.
  • Additional benefits may include charitable donation matching and wellness stipends.
