GitLab is looking for a seasoned Threat Intelligence Engineer to join as a dedicated Senior Security Engineer, TI. This role is focused on delivering actionable intelligence to help GitLab proactively identify, anticipate, and mitigate threats to GitLab and the software supply chain. You'll be the sole dedicated member of the threat intelligence team, working with Security Operations engineers who allocate part of their time to TI and collaborating across security, infrastructure, and product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the threat landscape and identify/ analyze risks most relevant to GitLab; raise awareness via ad-hoc Flash Reports.
  • Administer the Threat Intelligence Platform and expand the open source, proprietary, and internal intelligence collection pipeline.
  • Support incident response through malware analysis and threat actor tracking.
  • Collaborate on Purple Team Flash Operations to validate and improve defensive capabilities.
  • Build relationships with industry peers to share intelligence and collaborate on emerging threats.
  • Write code, leverage AI, and build automation to improve team processes and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Proven track record delivering actionable intelligence that meaningfully impacted an organization's security.
  • Experience working with a Threat Intelligence Platform (TIP) and managing ingested and exported threat feeds.
  • Experience researching adversaries using OSINT and structured analytical techniques.
  • Ability to automate tasks by writing scripts/programs, preferably with Python.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex topics clearly and concisely.
  • Optional but valuable: experience reverse engineering malware (particularly macOS and Linux malware and malware delivered via code repositories).
  • Optional but valuable: public examples (blogs or open-source work) related to threat intelligence.

About the team

  • You will be the sole dedicated member of a team within Security Operations, reporting to a Security Manager based in Australia who also runs the SIRT APAC Team.
  • Security Operations includes SIRT, Trust & Safety, Signal Engineering, Red Team, and Security Logging.

Salary

  • United States salary range (base): $140,000 - $200,000 USD. This range is stated for residents of the United States and reflects base salary only (does not include bonuses, equity, or benefits). Grade level and salary ranges are determined by multiple factors including location, experience, and interviews.
