Details

Help develop and improve NordVPN Threat Protection by researching scams, phishing, and other online threats. The role serves as a subject-matter expert for Threat Intelligence and works with Data Science, Engineering, Marketing, and PR teams to translate research into product improvements and public cybersecurity insights.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal subject-matter expert for Threat Intelligence and assist in setting the team's research direction across areas such as fake shops, investment scams, romance scams, phishing, and other online threats.
  • Translate research into new or improved protection vectors for the NordVPN Threat Protection product.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and PR to provide data-driven context on cybersecurity trends.
  • Share concise, evidence-based insights on social channels about emerging threats, notable campaigns, and practical safety guidance.
  • Contribute to scripting short-form video explainers and participate on camera when needed.
  • Partner with Data Science and Engineering teams to improve ML-based Threat Intelligence and validate impact using clear metrics.
  • Recommend and help onboard new tools, data sources, and processes that increase Threat Intelligence efficiency and consistency.
  • Mentor and coach junior researchers.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in Threat Intelligence.
  • Comfortable sharing insights publicly through social media, blogs, or talks.
  • Deep understanding of the intelligence lifecycle, including collection, enrichment, pivoting, and dissemination of threat indicators and behaviors.
  • Ability to conduct research on protection improvements that results in a clear, reasoned, evidence-based action plan, involving Data Science and Engineering teams when needed.
  • Curiosity and passion for cybersecurity, with an active habit of staying current on industry trends.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with Data Scientists on model development, including requirements, data curation, and evaluation.
  • Prior media experience, such as interviews or on-camera appearances, on Threat Intelligence topics.
