Details
Anthropic is looking for a product engineer to build internal products at the intersection of engineering, product, and design. The role focuses on owning outcomes, working directly with users, identifying patterns in their needs, and building abstractions that unlock capabilities for a broad range of use cases.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly design, prototype, and ship full-stack features across backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
- Consult with users and stakeholders to understand workflows and identify high-impact opportunities.
- Identify patterns across user requests and reduce them into primitives, platforms, or middleware rather than one-off features.
- Build tools that maximize autonomy and creative freedom for less-technical users.
- Make product and prioritization decisions rather than only executing predefined specifications.
- Iterate quickly based on feedback to continuously improve the user experience.
- Learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and domains as the product evolves.
Requirements
- Six or more years of experience building production software, ideally full-stack.
- Ability to independently take a product from idea to launch when required.
- Strong systems and abstraction-oriented thinking.
- A focus on empowering users and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Comfort making decisions with incomplete information and operating in ambiguous environments.
- High personal standards and the ability to work without external pressure.
- Proficiency across the stack. Anthropic uses Python, TypeScript, and React.
- Experience building platforms, primitives, or internal tools that others build on top of.
- A track record of independently shipping products.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The required field of study should be relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.
Working Arrangements
Anthropic currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time. Some roles may require more office time.
Compensation
The annual salary range is £255,000–£325,000 GBP.
Additional Information
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with no stated deadline. Anthropic sponsors visas, although sponsorship is assessed for each role and candidate. The company offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office collaboration spaces.
