Software Engineer, Product Security Data Platforms

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Product Security Data Platforms team is a newly established engineering team within Stripe Security. Its mission is to build foundational infrastructure that provides visibility into the security posture of Stripe integrations.

The team is building an API-first security telemetry platform that transforms large-scale behavioral data streams into actionable security intelligence. This role is for a founding team member who will architect a customer-facing security data pipeline and presentation layer at the intersection of high-throughput data engineering and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a highly available, low-latency pipeline capable of processing and augmenting millions of events per second into structured security telemetry.
• Develop core services and streaming APIs that enable enterprise customers to ingest security signals into their security operations centers and analytics tools.
• Partner with security researchers and threat detection experts to build logic that identifies anomalous behavior and surfaces high-fidelity security insights.
• Lead the technical roadmap for the platform, including data modeling, storage strategies, and abstraction layers for future security products.
• Establish high standards for code quality, system resilience, and operational maturity for a product requiring 99.99%+ availability.
• Collaborate with Stripe core platform and data teams while ensuring security data remains isolated and protected.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with experience shipping and maintaining complex, large-scale systems.
• Expertise in data engineering and distributed systems, including high-throughput data pipelines using Kafka, Flink, Spark, or similar streaming technologies.
• Strong programming fundamentals and significant experience with languages such as Java, C++, or Rust.
• Proven experience designing robust, scalable architectures and leading cross-team technical initiatives from conception to launch.
• Experience maintaining business-critical services with high availability requirements, on-call rotations, observability, and debugging.
• Excellent technical writing skills for drafting design documents, along with the ability to mentor engineers and collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with security analytics, threat detection systems, or observability platforms.
• Experience building platform infrastructure as a service for engineers or external developers.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Product intuition and interest in defining product requirements and user experience for 0-to-1 initiatives.
• Front-end or full-stack experience, particularly with React or TypeScript.
