Details

Coinbase's Security Platform Engineering team builds platform capabilities for security, compliance, and privacy use cases, including secrets and key management, identity and access management, onchain security, policy and risk management, and vulnerability management.

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees are expected to attend quarterly in-person working sessions called "surges."

Responsibilities

Architect and develop platforms for the Security Platform Engineering organization.
Provide technical structure to teams and work with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps.
Build new services using Golang and Java to meet critical product and business needs.
Design scalable systems using modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables using technical expertise.
Mentor and train team members on design techniques and coding standards.
Define a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams operating them.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into quarterly roadmaps.
Write high-quality, well-tested code; debug complex technical problems; and improve system deployment, ownership, operation, and diagnosis.
Review feature designs within the product area and across the company for cross-cutting projects, with responsibility for security, safety, scalability, operational integrity, and architectural clarity.

Requirements

At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
Knowledge of service-oriented architecture.
Strong system design and coding skills.
Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A bias toward open and transparent cultural practices.
Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together.
Ability to use generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

The annual base salary is INR 4,408,400, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits such as medical, dental, and vision.
