Details

The Client and Identity Engineering team builds and operates user identity, endpoint security, and corporate zero trust infrastructure for Airbnb employees and partners. The team develops critical, highly reliable and secure services that enable access to data and systems in the appropriate context.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure systems supporting Airbnb's Zero Trust ecosystem.
  • Work with open-source products to build the next generation client platform for Airbnb corporate endpoints.
  • Develop and support zero trust backend services, including security services, network paths, and user and device signaling.
  • Support executive-level Airbnb staff with endpoint and identity solutions.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to optimize endpoint and identity flows for employees and partners.
  • Lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.
  • Help evolve platforms and design new features in collaboration with security engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree, preferably in computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in test-driven software development.
  • Extensive experience with Go, Python, or Java; Go is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code deployments.
  • Experience developing and deploying services in Kubernetes environments.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within engineering and cross-functional organizations.
  • Motivation for personal growth and learning new technologies.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with the Apple MDM specification and its implementation in modern MDM deployments.
  • Understanding of authentication and authorization principles and technologies, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID, SAML, ABAC, and related Zero Trust security protocols.

Location

This position is based in California, ideally San Francisco. The role is remote eligible, although it may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Employees must live where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation

The base pay range is $196,000–$227,000 USD per year. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
