Details

Grafana Labs is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to help scale Grafana Cloud and transform Grafana into a multi-tenant, scalable observability app platform. The role focuses on SaaS platforms at scale, distributed systems, safe architectural changes, and integrated experiences across dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry.

The position is fully remote and open to candidates located in the UK, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Ireland.

Responsibilities

Code new features, enhance the operational experience of developed systems, and iteratively improve them using production insights.
Author, contribute to, and review design documents.
Take an active role in shaping the roadmap.
Mentor and support other team members.
Collaborate with teams across the organization, squads, and external stakeholders.
Own the customer experience by participating in weekday 12-hour by 5-day and separate weekend 24-hour by 2-day on-call rotations.
Use AI coding assistants for prototyping, test generation, refactoring, documentation, and incident follow-ups, in accordance with security guidelines and quality standards.

Requirements

Strong coding skills and operational experience, including responsibility for operating software you have built.
Experience working on SaaS platforms and addressing distributed systems challenges such as scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, and high availability.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work across teams, align plans with other squads and external stakeholders, make plans transparent, and incorporate feedback.
A pragmatic approach, with the ability to prioritize progress over perfection and handle ambiguity.
Familiarity with Golang or willingness to learn it.

Compensation

The UK compensation range is £103,958–£124,750. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset. Compensation ranges are country-specific, and the recruiter will discuss the applicable market range and benefits for candidates applying from another listed location.
