Details
Confluent is building a data streaming platform that enables companies to stream information in near real time. The team works on complex distributed storage systems and infrastructure problems through the Tableflow project, which is transforming Kora into a multimodal storage engine so streaming data can be consumed seamlessly as both a table and a stream.
As a Staff Software Engineer I, you will advance key layers of Tableflow, including its multitenant, highly available compute infrastructure and the core components responsible for table materialization and background maintenance. You will develop strategies for efficient table materialization and maintenance at massive scale across Confluent Cloud while ensuring high availability and scalability for background storage tasks.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement strategies for table schematization, materialization, and compaction at massive scale.
- Build and maintain multitenant, highly available infrastructure for background computational tasks supporting Kora’s long-term storage.
- Optimize the platform for scalability, reliability, and resilience in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and other engineering teams to integrate storage features and infrastructure across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to influence and guide stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with or experience contributing to Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Flink.
- Experience with or knowledge of public cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
