Details

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Risk team protects Stripe and its users while enabling durable, responsible growth.

This role supports the Risk team as a senior product strategist-operator. The position partners with leaders and cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, Operations, and Strategy to identify emerging risks, prioritize interventions, and deliver measurable outcomes. The role combines rigorous analysis with hands-on execution to improve decision-making, strengthen execution, and manage risk while serving users well.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the metrics that matter for Risk’s in-year performance, spanning risk outcomes, business impact, operational health, and user experience.
  • Build a disciplined “morning read”—a curated, high-signal view that surfaces emerging issues and drives timely action beyond standard dashboarding.
  • Lead focused “surge” efforts to diagnose and unblock critical goals at risk, move from symptoms to root causes, align teams on responses, and remain engaged until performance measurably improves.
  • Translate long-horizon company and risk theses into in-year priorities and operating plans.
  • Decompose ambiguous opportunities and threats across Product, Risk, Operations, and go-to-market teams into structured workstreams with clear owners and outcomes.
  • Prepare clear, decision-oriented materials for senior leaders that turn complex and unstructured risk signals into diagnoses, options, and recommended actions.
  • Work with Risk, Corporate Strategy, Product, and Finance to pressure-test plans against external market dynamics, changing risk patterns, user needs, and Stripe’s execution capacity.
  • Identify gaps early and help teams adapt.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in product strategy, business operations, data analytics, product management, or strategic business performance roles, ideally in high-growth technology companies.
  • Experience in product strategy, product management, or GM-style roles with direct ownership of a P&L or a specific business outcome.
  • Strong curiosity about business models and data, including the ability to investigate signals, understand trends and customer usage patterns, and uncover novel insights.
  • Proven track record of directly driving business growth through analytical insights and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI to improve decision-making and operational efficiency, with sound judgment about when and how to use AI tools without sacrificing rigor or quality.
  • Strong product sense and the ability to understand the technical mechanics of how software products are built and scaled.
  • Experience navigating ambiguous, cross-functional problems and leading high-stakes interventions with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience facilitating senior leadership and stakeholder discussions that lead to clear decisions and action on business performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in risk, payments, financial services, or fintech.
  • Ability to build trust and partner with senior leaders and C-level executives.
  • Technical proficiency in SQL, Python, or R and data analysis, with the ability to self-serve and perform independent deep dives into complex datasets.
  • Experience developing creative solutions and influencing the roadmaps of cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to anticipate how product launches, policy changes, and go-to-market activity affect risk outcomes, user experience, and support operations.
