About the Team
OpenAI’s Hardware organization develops AI-native silicon and system-level solutions for the unique demands of advanced AI workloads. Building on efforts like Jalapeño, the team is developing future generations of AI-native silicon and tightly integrated systems to power the next generation of frontier models. By co-designing chips, systems, tools, and methodologies, the team helps deliver faster, more efficient, and production-ready hardware for OpenAI’s supercomputing platform.
About the Role
As an AI Accelerator Systems Software Technical Program Manager at OpenAI, you will help bring the chip and system hardware roadmap to life while navigating technical and partnership challenges. You will work across technical, cross-functional, and external stakeholders to manage software development for AI acceleration systems.
This role is based in San Francisco, California, and uses a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end software development from design to implementation for AI acceleration systems.
- Lead planning and scheduling of AI system software designs with strategic partners and vendors.
- Coordinate and lead internal resources and communication for efficient interaction with partners and vendors.
- Independently own and deliver team goals and cutting-edge problems in AI compute.
- Help design large-scale supercomputing systems while working on complex hardware challenges.
- Work with and enable AI researchers and engineers.
Requirements
- Experience as a software technical program manager for data center system products, such as servers, GPUs, TPUs, networking, or storage.
- Experience taking products from concept to volume in a data center environment while ensuring that systems scale with high quality.
- Knowledge of end-to-end software development program management techniques covering concept, design, production, and deployment into the data center.
- Passion for technical program management and building AI compute systems.
